Fizzers

Fizzers are a type of effervescent candy, typically disc-shaped, that produce a fizzy sensation in the mouth when they dissolve. This effect is created by the inclusion of an acid (usually tartaric or citric acid) and a base (usually sodium bicarbonate) within the candy. When the candy comes into contact with saliva, these two components react to produce carbon dioxide gas, which creates the characteristic fizz. Fizzers are often flavored with fruit extracts or artificial flavorings and come in a variety of colors.

While the term "Fizzers" may be used generically to describe similar candies, it is also a brand name for a specific product produced by Leaf Brands, LLC. The original Fizzers candy was created in the 1940s by the Whistle Company of Chicago, Illinois, and has changed ownership several times. Leaf Brands re-introduced the classic Fizzers recipe after acquiring the brand.

Fizzers are often individually wrapped and sold in rolls. They are a popular and nostalgic candy enjoyed by people of all ages, particularly due to their unique fizzy texture and relatively low price point. The ingredients and manufacturing processes for Fizzers and similar candies are standardized to ensure consistent taste and quality.
