Earl Young (athlete)

Earl Young (born February 14, 1941) is a retired American track and field athlete, primarily known for his achievements in the 400 meters during the 1960s. He was a member of the United States 4x400 meter relay team that won a gold medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, setting a world record in the process. Individually, Young was also a strong competitor, often placing well in major national and international meets. While he didn't achieve individual Olympic glory, his contribution to the gold medal-winning relay team and his consistent performances cemented his place as a significant figure in American track and field history. After his athletic career, Young continued to be involved in the sport, often working with youth athletes.
