Duckworth baronets of Topsham (1813)

The Duckworth baronets of Topsham were a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom, created on November 2, 1813, for John Duckworth, a distinguished admiral in the Royal Navy. Topsham is a town in Devon, England.

Sir John Thomas Duckworth, 1st Baronet (1748-1817), had a long and celebrated naval career, seeing action in various conflicts including the American Revolutionary War and the Napoleonic Wars. He achieved the rank of Admiral of the Red and served as Governor of Newfoundland. His baronetcy was awarded in recognition of his service.

The title was hereditary and passed down through his male descendants. The line of succession was as follows:

  • Sir John Thomas Duckworth, 1st Baronet (1748-1817)
  • Sir John Thomas Buller Duckworth, 2nd Baronet (1777-1843)
  • Sir John Buller Duckworth, 3rd Baronet (1809-1887)

The baronetcy became extinct upon the death of the 3rd Baronet in 1887 as he left no male heir. There were no further claimants to the title.
