Coldean
Coldean is a suburb in the city of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, England. It is located to the north-east of central Brighton, nestled in the South Downs National Park.
History:
Coldean was originally a small rural area, largely farmland, on the outskirts of Brighton. Significant residential development began in the mid-20th century, primarily to address post-war housing needs. The estate was largely built by Brighton Corporation (later Brighton Borough Council).
Geography:
Coldean is characterised by its hilly terrain and proximity to the South Downs. Its location provides residents with access to walking trails and views of the surrounding countryside. It is bounded roughly by Stanmer Park to the north, Hollingdean to the west, and Falmer to the east.
Demographics:
Coldean is a predominantly residential area with a diverse population. The area consists largely of council housing, although there are also privately owned properties.
