Carl's Date

Carl's Date is a short film and epilogue to the 2009 Pixar animated film Up. Released in theaters alongside Elemental on June 16, 2023, the short focuses on Carl Fredricksen as he navigates his first date since the passing of his wife, Ellie. The story depicts the anxieties and preparations Carl undergoes with encouragement and assistance from his talking dog, Dug. The short explores themes of grief, moving forward, and finding companionship after loss. It is directed by Bob Peterson, who also co-directed Up and voices Dug.
