Alyzeia
Alyzeia was an ancient city located in Acarnania, Greece. It was situated on the coast near the mouth of the Achelous River. The exact location is generally accepted to be near the modern-day village of Kandila.
Alyzeia was known for its harbor and played a role in naval operations during the classical period. Historical accounts mention its involvement in conflicts such as the Peloponnesian War. While not as prominent as other major city-states of ancient Greece, Alyzeia held regional significance due to its strategic coastal position. Archaeological evidence suggests continuous habitation from at least the Classical period through Roman times. The site's remains offer insight into the urban layout and material culture of a smaller Acarnanian settlement.
