John White (squash player)
John White (born 15 July 1973) is a Scottish-Australian professional squash player. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 1 in March 2004. Known for his aggressive, athletic style of play and powerful shots, White has been a prominent figure in the professional squash circuit for many years.
White was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He represented Scotland in international competitions before switching his allegiance to Australia in the late 1990s. His move to Australia was partially motivated by training opportunities and a change in environment.
Some of White's significant achievements include reaching the finals of major tournaments such as the PSA Masters and the British Open. He was also a member of the Australian team that won the World Team Squash Championships.
Following his playing career, White has transitioned into coaching. He has held coaching positions at various squash clubs and academies, sharing his experience and knowledge with aspiring players. He served as the Director of Squash at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for a number of years, leading the team to several national championships. He is currently the Director of Squash at Cornell University.
