Empress Yang (Lü Zuan's wife)

Empress Yang was the wife of Lü Zuan, the last ruler of the Later Liang dynasty during the Sixteen Kingdoms period in Chinese history. Details about her life are scant, as historical records from this turbulent era are often incomplete. She likely held the title of empress consort during Lü Zuan's brief reign (400-401 CE).

Her significance primarily lies in her relationship to Lü Zuan and her position as the empress of a short-lived dynasty. The Later Liang was a minor state, frequently at war with its neighbors, and ultimately overthrown. Consequently, Empress Yang did not wield significant political power, and historical narratives focus more on the military and political events surrounding Lü Zuan's rule.

After Lü Zuan's assassination in 401 CE, the Later Liang state collapsed. The fate of Empress Yang following the fall of the dynasty is unrecorded in surviving historical accounts. Her existence is primarily known through her title and her connection to the final, tumultuous years of the Later Liang.
