Abu Nuwas (crater)

Abu Nuwas is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the southeast of the larger crater King, and northeast of Balandin.

The rim of Abu Nuwas has a somewhat polygonal outline, especially along the eastern side. The interior walls are terraced and display some slumping. The interior floor is relatively level, with a small central peak. A few tiny craterlets mark the floor. The crater shows little significant wear or erosion and is relatively well-defined.

The crater is named after Abu Nuwas, an 8th-9th century Arabic poet.
