Songs of Faith and Devotion

Songs of Faith and Devotion is the eighth studio album by the English electronic band Depeche Mode, released on 3 March 1993 by Mute Records. The recording sessions took place primarily at the band's own studio, Doghouse Studios in Henley‑on‑Thames, and at the renowned Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin.

배경 및 제작

Following the commercial success of Violator (1990), Depeche Mode sought to incorporate more organic instrumentation and darker lyrical themes. Lead vocalist Dave Gahan, guitarist Martin Gore, keyboardist Andy Fletcher, and drummer Alan Wilder collaborated with producer Flood (Mark Ellis) and additional musician Daniel Miller. The album’s production combined synthesizers, sample loops, and live instruments such as guitars, drums, and strings, reflecting the band’s intention to blend electronic and rock elements.
