DSM-5는 정신질환 진단 및 통계 편람(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM)의 다섯 번째 개정판을 가리키는 약칭이다. 미국정신의학협회(American Psychiatric Association, APA)가 발행하였으며, 2013년 5월 18일에 출간되었다.
개요 DSM-5는 정신질환의 진단 분류와 기준을 제공하는 표준 참고 문헌으로, 정신건강 분야의 임상가와 연구자들이 일관된 진단을 내릴 수 있도록 고안되었다. 미국 내에서는 정신질환 진단의 주요 권위로 인정되며, 치료 권고 및 보험 지불 적정성 판단에도 DSM 분류가 활용된다.
개정 배경 및 특징 이전 판본(DSM-IV-TR)에 비해 DSM-5는 범주적 접근과 함께 차원적 접근을 추가적으로 시도한 점이 특징이다. 이는 기존의 엄격한 범주 분류보다 더 유연한 진단 해석을 가능하게 하기 위한 것이다. 총 947쪽 분량으로, 3개의 섹션(Section I, II, III)으로 구성되어 있다.

수정판 (DSM-5-TR) 2022년(출판 기준 2023년)에는 DSM-5의 수정판인 DSM-5-TR(Text Revision)이 발행되었다. 이 수정판은 기존 70개 이상 질환에 대한 진단 기준을 명확히 업데이트하였고, 지속적 비탄장애(Prolonged Grief Disorder) 등 새로운 진단과 증상 부호가 추가되었다.
ICD와의 관계 DSM-5는 세계보건기구(WHO)의 국제질병분류(ICD-10) 중 챕터 V(정신 및 행동 장애)와 많은 부분에서 호환되도록 설계되었다.
