Wayne Clarke (footballer)

Wayne Clarke (born 23 April 1961) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker.

Clarke began his career as a trainee at Birmingham City, turning professional in 1979. He made over 100 appearances for Birmingham City, scoring more than 30 goals.

In 1984, Clarke moved to Everton, although his time there was brief. He subsequently played for Shrewsbury Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Walsall. He had a second spell with Birmingham City before moving to Manchester City in 1988.

Further moves followed, including a stint at Leicester City, back to Wolverhampton Wanderers, and then to Peterborough United. He concluded his professional career playing for several non-league clubs, including Telford United.

After retiring from playing, Clarke worked in various roles, including coaching and youth development.
