Voxx (album)
Voxx is the debut studio album by German industrial rock band, KMFDM. It was released in 1989 on Cash Beat Records. The album marked the band's transition towards a heavier, more industrial sound, incorporating elements of heavy metal alongside their established electronic and sampling techniques. The title, "Voxx," is often interpreted as a play on the word "voice," and the album itself contains a range of vocal styles and samples that contribute to its overall sound. Key characteristics of the album include repetitive, driving rhythms, heavily processed vocals, and samples drawn from various sources, including news broadcasts and film soundtracks. While not as commercially successful as some of KMFDM's later works, Voxx is considered an important early release in the band's discography and a significant step in the development of their signature industrial sound. It showcases the early lineup’s experimentation and established many of the themes and sonic elements that would define their subsequent albums.
