Tredegar (band)
Tredegar was a British heavy metal band formed in South Wales in the early 1980s. The band featured former members of other notable rock and metal acts, most significantly vocalist Carl Sentance, who had previously sung for Persian Risk. Other members included guitarists Tony Bourge (ex-Budgie) and Russ North (also ex-Persian Risk), bassist Ray Carless, and drummer Brian Grace.
Tredegar released only one self-titled album in 1986 on Neat Records. The music was characterized by its melodic approach to heavy metal, incorporating elements of hard rock and NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal). While the album received some positive reviews, it failed to achieve significant commercial success.
Despite the talent of the individual members, Tredegar ultimately disbanded shortly after the album's release. Carl Sentance went on to pursue a successful solo career and later joined Nazareth. Tony Bourge continued to play and record music in various projects. The Tredegar album remains a cult favorite among fans of 1980s British heavy metal.
