Tom Six
Tom Six (born August 29, 1973) is a Dutch filmmaker known primarily for writing, directing, and producing the controversial horror film series The Human Centipede.
Six began his career making television shows in the Netherlands. He then transitioned into feature filmmaking. His early films include Gay in Amsterdam (2004), I Love Dries (2008), and Honeyz (2007), the latter a thriller.
He gained international notoriety with the release of The Human Centipede (First Sequence) in 2009. The film depicts a German surgeon who kidnaps three tourists and surgically connects them mouth-to-anus to create a single "human centipede." The film's graphic and disturbing content generated significant controversy and divided critics.
Six subsequently directed and produced two sequels: The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) (2011) and The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) (2015). These sequels continued the themes of body horror and extreme violence, pushing the boundaries of acceptable on-screen depictions for some audiences. The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) was initially banned in the UK before being released with cuts.
His work has been described as exploitative and deliberately provocative, often seeking to shock and disgust viewers. While the Human Centipede films have been criticized for their excessive gore and lack of narrative depth, they have also garnered a cult following among horror fans interested in extreme cinema. His work explores themes of control, dehumanization, and the limits of human endurance.
