T5 (SEPTA Metro)
T5 is a former route designation for a portion of the SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) Metro system, specifically what is now part of the SEPTA Route 101 trolley line. The T5 designation was used to identify the former Media-Sharon Hill Line, a light rail line connecting 69th Street Transportation Center in Upper Darby with the boroughs of Media and Sharon Hill in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
Before SEPTA's consolidated route numbering system was implemented, the various regional rail, subway-surface, and trolley lines were identified by a "T" number. The "T5" specifically denoted the Media-Sharon Hill Line service.
The route was later renumbered as Route 101 as part of SEPTA's move to standardize its route numbers, aligning trolley routes with numbers 100 and above. Route 101 continues to operate along the same tracks and serves the same destinations as the former T5 line. Thus, the T5 designation is no longer in official use, but it remains a historical reference to a portion of the SEPTA Metro system. The current SEPTA Route 101 represents the evolution and standardization of the older T5 service.
