Stella (crater)
Stella is a lunar impact crater located on the far side of the Moon. It lies within the Mare Moscoviense basin, a large, irregular mare feature in the northern hemisphere of the far side. Its selenographic coordinates are 27.0° N, 147.9° E, and its diameter is approximately 1 kilometer.
Stella is a relatively small, bowl-shaped crater, characterized by a simple, well-defined rim. Its interior is darker than the surrounding terrain, suggesting the presence of mare material. Due to its small size, it does not exhibit any significant central peak or terracing.
The crater's name, Stella, is a given name, and conforms to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) naming conventions for minor lunar features, typically using personal names. Stella is not associated with any specific individual. These small craters are often named to provide reference points within larger lunar regions.
