South West Staffordshire (UK Parliament constituency)

South West Staffordshire is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by Gavin Williamson, a member of the Conservative Party.

The constituency was created in 1997, largely replacing the former seat of South Staffordshire. It covers a mostly rural area of Staffordshire, including towns and villages such as Penkridge, Great Wyrley, Cheslyn Hay, and Brewood. It borders the West Midlands conurbation.

Historically, South West Staffordshire has been a safe Conservative seat. The demographics of the area, with a large proportion of homeowners and a relatively low unemployment rate, tend to favour the Conservative party.

Boundaries:

The constituency comprises the southern and western portions of the South Staffordshire district. Specifically, it encompasses the wards of Bilbrook, Brewood and Coven, Cheslyn Hay North and Saredon, Cheslyn Hay South, Codsall North, Codsall South, Featherstone, Great Wyrley, Huntington and Hatherton, Kinver, Perton East, Perton West, and Penkridge North. These wards are used for local council elections. Boundary changes have occurred since the constituency's creation, although the core areas covered have remained largely the same.
