Samuel Cunningham (Northern Ireland politician)

Samuel Cunningham (born circa 1930, died 2008) was a Northern Irish politician and businessman. He was a prominent figure in Unionist politics for several decades.

Cunningham served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for South Antrim in the Parliament of Northern Ireland from 1969 until the parliament was prorogued in 1972. He represented the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP).

During his time in Parliament, Cunningham was a vocal advocate for maintaining Northern Ireland's union with the United Kingdom and a staunch defender of the policies of the UUP government. He was known for his strong and often controversial views on security and law and order in the context of the escalating Troubles.

Following the abolition of the Northern Ireland Parliament, Cunningham remained active in Unionist politics. He was involved in various political initiatives and organizations aimed at promoting Unionist unity and resisting power-sharing arrangements with Nationalists.
