Roger Palmer (MP, born 1577)
Roger Palmer (1577-1657) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1621 and 1629.
Palmer was the son of Sir Thomas Palmer of Wingham, Kent and Margaret Poley. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, on 12 October 1599, aged 21 and was admitted to the Middle Temple in 1601.
In 1621, Palmer was elected Member of Parliament for Rochester. He was re-elected MP for Rochester in 1624, 1625, 1626 and 1628, sitting until 1629 when King Charles I decided to rule without parliament for eleven years. He served as a Justice of the Peace for Kent.
He died in 1657 and was buried at Wingham on 11 February 1657. He married Margaret Brough, daughter of John Brough of Yorkshire and had a son, Thomas, who became a baronet.
