Rehabus
Rehabus is a neologism, likely a portmanteau of "rehabilitation" and "bus." It generally refers to a mobile facility or service that provides rehabilitation services, particularly in areas where access to traditional rehabilitation centers is limited. The concept encompasses a vehicle, or a set of vehicles, equipped with the necessary tools and staffed with qualified professionals (such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, counselors, and medical personnel) to deliver therapeutic interventions directly to patients in remote or underserved communities.
The purpose of a Rehabus is to improve accessibility to rehabilitative care, bridging the gap created by geographical barriers, financial constraints, or other logistical challenges. This can include services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, mental health counseling, and substance abuse recovery support.
The term "Rehabus" might also be used metaphorically to describe any initiative or program that aims to bring rehabilitative services to a specific population, even if it doesn't involve a physical vehicle.
