Proschwitz
Proschwitz is a district (Ortsteil) of the town of Meißen in Saxony, Germany. It is located north of the Meißen town center, on the Elbe river.
Proschwitz is best known for its viticulture. The Weingut Schloss Proschwitz, or Proschwitz Castle Winery, is the oldest privately-owned winery in Saxony. The history of viticulture in Proschwitz dates back to the 12th century.
The area is characterized by rolling hills and vineyards. In addition to wine production, tourism plays a role in the local economy. The landscape is protected as part of the Elbe Valley cultural landscape.
