Peter Hill (bishop)

Peter Hill (born 1951) is a retired Anglican bishop. He served as the Bishop of Barking in the Diocese of Chelmsford from 2003 to 2014.

Hill was educated at Bedford School and King's College London. He trained for ordination at Westcott House, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1976 and priest in 1977.

His early ministry was spent in the Diocese of St Albans, serving as a curate in the parishes of St Peter's, Bushey Heath, and St Michael's, Bishop's Stortford. He subsequently served as Vicar of St Paul's, Wordsworth Road, Walthamstow, in the Diocese of Chelmsford. Before his consecration as a bishop, he was the Archdeacon of Southend.

As Bishop of Barking, he had particular responsibility for oversight of the Church of England's presence in the London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge.

Since his retirement, Hill has held Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Chelmsford. He is married to Sarah and they have two children.
