Paradise (KMFDM album)
Paradise is the seventeenth studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on September 27, 2019, on Metropolis Records and KMFDM Records.
Background and Production: The album features the core KMFDM lineup of Sascha Konietzko, Lucia Cifarelli, and Andy Selway. Additional contributions came from guest musicians including MC Ocelot, Elizabeth Fox (of the band Marianas Trench), and longtime KMFDM collaborator Raymond Watts (PIG). Konietzko has described the album's themes as broadly encompassing observations on modern society and political climates, often presented with KMFDM's trademark satirical edge. The album was written and recorded primarily in Konietzko's home studio in Seattle, Washington.
Musical Style: Paradise retains KMFDM's signature industrial sound, incorporating elements of electronic body music (EBM), heavy metal, and techno. The album features a blend of aggressive, distorted guitars, driving electronic rhythms, and politically charged vocals. While maintaining their core sound, Paradise also incorporates elements of dub and reggae on certain tracks, expanding on the band's established sonic palette.
