Ocelot (vehicle)
The Ocelot is a heavily armored, light tactical vehicle designed and produced by General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) - Eagle. It is primarily used by the German Bundeswehr, where it is known as the Geschütztes Transportfahrzeug (GTF) 1 – Protected Transport Vehicle 1.
The Ocelot is designed for a variety of roles, including reconnaissance, command and control, and logistical support, particularly in high-threat environments. Its modular design allows it to be rapidly configured for different missions, using interchangeable mission modules mounted on the vehicle's chassis.
Key features of the Ocelot include its high level of ballistic and mine protection, its all-wheel drive and independent suspension for off-road mobility, and its ability to be transported by air, including within a CH-53 helicopter. The vehicle is also equipped with advanced communication and surveillance systems.
The GTF 1 Ocelot entered service with the Bundeswehr in the late 2000s and has been deployed in various operations, including in Afghanistan. It represents a significant upgrade in protected mobility and situational awareness for German forces.
