Muuga Bay
Muuga Bay is a bay located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, in northern Estonia. It is part of Tallinn Bay and is situated northeast of the Tallinn city center.
Muuga Bay is notable for being the location of the Port of Muuga, the largest and deepest seaport in Estonia. The port handles a significant volume of cargo traffic, including containers, dry bulk, and liquid bulk. It serves as a crucial transportation hub connecting Estonia and other Baltic states with international markets.
The bay itself provides relatively sheltered waters, making it suitable for port activities. The surrounding coastline is characterized by a mix of industrial areas, natural landscapes, and residential settlements. Environmental protection and sustainable development are important considerations in the management of the bay and its surrounding areas, given the intensity of port operations.
