Mischief Night (2006 film)
Mischief Night is a 2006 British independent horror film directed by Penny Woolcock. It tells the story of a young boy named Kieran who terrorizes a middle-class family on Mischief Night (the night before Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night) in Sheffield, England.
The film explores themes of social class, youth violence, and the breakdown of community. It is notable for its use of improvisation and non-professional actors to create a sense of realism. The majority of the cast were local residents of the area where the film was shot.
While the film received some positive reviews for its gritty portrayal of urban life and the performances of its young cast, it also faced criticism for its bleakness and depiction of graphic violence. It was released theatrically in the UK and received limited international distribution.
