Mike Jones (boxer)
Mike Jones (born May 30, 1983) is an American former professional boxer. He competed from 2004 to 2011.
Jones, a heavyweight, possessed considerable size and reach. He was known for his jab and overall boxing skills, earning him the nickname "The Truth." He achieved a notable undefeated streak early in his career, building a record of 19-0 with 16 knockouts.
His first major fight came against Monte Barrett in 2010, which ended in a controversial draw. A rematch later that year saw Jones win by majority decision. In 2011, he faced Ukrainian heavyweight contender Serhiy Liakhovich, losing by majority decision, marking his first professional defeat. Later that year, he fought Tony Thompson, losing by fifth-round TKO.
Jones announced his retirement from boxing following the Thompson fight. While showing promise early in his career, he was unable to achieve world championship contention. His final record stood at 25 wins (19 by knockout) and 2 losses, with 1 draw.
