Michael Barrett (Canadian politician)
Michael Barrett (born November 16, 1983) is a Canadian politician who currently serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. He is a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.
Barrett was first elected to the House of Commons in a 2018 by-election. Prior to entering federal politics, he worked as a political staffer and was active in municipal politics.
He has served on various parliamentary committees, often focusing on matters of public safety, justice, and ethics. He has held critic roles within the Conservative shadow cabinet. His political positions are generally aligned with the conservative platform, emphasizing fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, and a strong national defense.
Barrett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University. He resides in Leeds and Grenville, Ontario, with his family.
