Matthew Butler (American football)
Matthew Butler (born October 20, 1999) is an American football defensive tackle for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Tennessee.
Early Life and High School
Butler attended Garner Magnet High School in Garner, North Carolina, where he was a standout football player. He was a three-star recruit and ranked as one of the top defensive tackles in the state.
College Career
Butler played for the Tennessee Volunteers from 2017 to 2021. He was a significant contributor on the defensive line throughout his career, steadily improving his performance each year. He was known for his leadership, work ethic, and commitment to the program. In his final season, he was a team captain and earned All-SEC honors. He finished his college career with over 150 total tackles and multiple sacks.
Professional Career
Butler was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was placed on injured reserve before the start of the 2022 season. He returned to the active roster in 2023 and has contributed as a rotational defensive lineman.
