Malakasa
Malakasa (Μαλακάσα) is a town and a former municipality in East Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Oropos, of which it is a municipal unit.
The area is primarily known for its military camps and facilities, including a large military training ground. Malakasa also hosts refugee and migrant reception and identification centers.
Geographically, Malakasa is situated in a valley between mountains, north of Athens. The terrain is relatively flat compared to surrounding areas.
Historically, the area around Malakasa has been inhabited since ancient times. Its strategic location has contributed to its continued use for military purposes throughout history. The modern town developed primarily around these military installations.
The population of Malakasa is relatively small, with most residents employed in the military sector or in related service industries. Agricultural activity is limited.
