Mabel (band)
Mabel was a Danish pop band active primarily in the late 1970s. They are best known for winning the 1978 Danish Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Boom Boom." This victory earned them the right to represent Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest that year, where they placed 16th.
The band consisted of Michael Trempenau (later known as Mike Tramp), Peter Nielsen, Andy Laumann and Otto Kulmbak. Mabel’s musical style evolved from a more glam-rock influenced sound in their earlier albums to a more mainstream pop sound by the time of their Eurovision appearance and subsequent recordings.
After Mabel disbanded in the early 1980s, Michael Trempenau pursued a successful career as Mike Tramp, primarily as the lead singer of the hard rock band White Lion. The other members pursued various musical and non-musical endeavors. While Mabel enjoyed considerable popularity in Denmark during their active years, their international recognition remained largely limited to their Eurovision participation.
