Linn County (band)
Linn County was an American country rock band formed in Iowa in the late 1960s. They are primarily known for their albums released in the early 1970s which blended country, rock, and folk influences. The band's original lineup consisted of Rusty Weir (vocals, guitar), Stephen Michael Fromholz (vocals, guitar), Bill Mabry (bass), and Stan Smith (drums).
Linn County's music often featured dual lead guitar work and prominent vocal harmonies. Although they gained a dedicated following and critical acclaim for their musicianship and songwriting, they did not achieve widespread commercial success. They toured extensively, sharing stages with prominent acts of the era.
The band's discography includes albums released on Mercury Records. After several lineup changes and the eventual departures of key members like Weir and Fromholz to pursue solo careers, Linn County eventually disbanded in the mid-1970s. While relatively obscure today, Linn County is remembered by fans of the early country rock scene for their unique sound and contributions to the genre. Their music has experienced renewed interest over time through reissues and digital distribution.
