Lake Gore

Lake Gore is a salt lake located in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, approximately 24 kilometers (15 miles) west of Esperance. The lake is part of the Lake Warden System, a chain of wetlands recognized as a Ramsar site of international importance.

The lake's salinity fluctuates considerably, influencing the types of flora and fauna it supports. During wetter periods, the lake can hold a substantial amount of fresh or brackish water, attracting a diverse range of waterbirds, including migratory species protected under international agreements. During drier periods, Lake Gore can become a salt flat.

Vegetation surrounding the lake is typically salt-tolerant species adapted to the harsh conditions.

Lake Gore is an important habitat for waterbirds and other wildlife, contributing to the ecological significance of the Lake Warden System.
