Keukenhof

Keukenhof, also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world's largest flower gardens. It is situated in Lisse, Netherlands, southwest of Amsterdam, in the heart of the Dutch bulb-growing region.

Keukenhof is open annually from mid-March to mid-May, showcasing millions of bulbs planted each autumn, including tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, lilies, roses, carnations, and irises. The garden features themed displays, flower shows, art exhibitions, and water gardens. It covers an area of 32 hectares (79 acres).

The park's history dates back to the 15th century when the land was part of the Teylingen Castle estate. The area provided herbs for the castle's kitchen, hence the name "Keukenhof" (kitchen garden). In 1949, a group of leading flower bulb growers and exporters conceived the idea of using the estate as a permanent showcase for their products. The first Keukenhof exhibition was held in 1950 and was an immediate success.

Keukenhof is a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the globe each year. It plays a significant role in promoting the Dutch flower industry and showcasing the beauty and diversity of floral cultivation. The garden's design and displays vary annually, providing new and innovative experiences for returning visitors.
