Keel (album)
Keel is the self-titled fourth studio album by the American heavy metal band Keel, released in 1987. It marked a stylistic departure for the band, incorporating more of a glam metal sound than their previous, harder-edged heavy metal releases. Produced by Michael Wagener, known for his work with Dokken and Metallica, the album featured the singles "Because the Night" (a cover of the Patti Smith/Bruce Springsteen song) and "Somebody's Waiting." While the album received moderate commercial success, it is often considered a turning point in Keel's career as it shifted their sound to be more radio-friendly and accessible. The lineup for this album consisted of Ron Keel (vocals), Marc Ferrari (guitar), Brian Jay (drums), Kenny Chaisson (bass), and Tony Palmucci (guitar). The album's songs are generally centered around themes of love, relationships, and rock and roll lifestyle. Despite the production quality and attempt at wider appeal, some fans consider this album to be weaker than their earlier work due to the change in musical direction.
