Jimmy Laidlaw
Jimmy Laidlaw is a Scottish former professional golfer. He is most notable for his amateur career, during which he won The Amateur Championship twice, in 1947 and 1949.
Laidlaw represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup on four occasions: 1947, 1949, 1951, and 1953. His amateur successes led him to be considered one of the leading British golfers of his generation.
After a successful amateur career, Laidlaw turned professional. He competed in several major championships, including The Open Championship, without achieving major professional victories. Despite not reaching the same heights in the professional ranks as he did as an amateur, he remained a respected figure in Scottish golf.
Following his playing career, Laidlaw continued to be involved in golf, offering coaching and mentoring to younger players.
