Jimi Hope

Jimi Hope was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, painter, and sculptor. He was known for his experimental and eclectic musical style, blending elements of jazz, funk, rock, and traditional African music.

Born in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria, Jimi Hope (born as Jimi Solanke but later adopted the stage name) gained recognition in the 1970s and 1980s as a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene. He released several albums throughout his career and toured extensively, both locally and internationally. His music often addressed social and political issues affecting Nigeria.

Beyond his musical contributions, Jimi Hope was also an accomplished visual artist, creating paintings and sculptures that reflected his diverse artistic sensibilities. He was considered a significant contributor to the Nigerian arts and culture landscape and was recognized for his innovative and unconventional approach to artistic expression. He passed away in 2020.
