Jim Plunkett (Australian footballer)
Jim Plunkett (born 20 September 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1960s and 1970s.
Plunkett, a rover, was recruited from Assumption College, Kilmore. He debuted for Fitzroy in 1965 and quickly established himself as a consistent and reliable player. He won Fitzroy's best and fairest award in 1972 and captained the club from 1973 to 1976. Known for his toughness and tenacity, Plunkett represented Victoria in interstate football on several occasions.
He retired from VFL football at the end of the 1976 season, having played a total of 189 games and kicked 118 goals for Fitzroy. Following his playing career, Plunkett remained involved in Australian rules football in various coaching and administrative roles.
