Jaylen Smith (politician)

Jaylen Smith (born December 25, 1997) is an American politician who served as the Mayor of Earle, Arkansas from 2023 to 2024. Elected at the age of 18, Smith was one of the youngest Black mayors elected in United States history.

Smith campaigned on a platform of improving public safety, attracting businesses to the economically struggling town, and creating opportunities for youth. He faced significant challenges during his term, including infrastructure issues, a limited city budget, and crime.

Smith lost his re-election bid in November 2024 to Reginald Young.
