Jago (car)

The Jago was a kit car manufactured in the United Kingdom during the 1970s and 1980s, primarily based on the Volkswagen Beetle chassis. The company, originally known as Jago Jeep, was founded by Geoff Jago.

The Jago Jeep was the first and most well-known model, styled to resemble a miniature Jeep-like vehicle. It offered an open-top design and was targeted towards off-road and recreational use. The simple construction and reliance on readily available Beetle components made it a popular choice for home builders.

Later, Jago expanded its range to include other Beetle-based kits, diversifying the options available to consumers. While production numbers were never huge, the Jago vehicles contributed to the vibrant kit car scene of the era. The company eventually ceased production, but examples of Jago kits and completed vehicles can still be found today, primarily among enthusiasts and collectors. The affordability and ease of construction contributed to its lasting appeal.
