Iuliu Falb
Iuliu Falb (1842-1922) was a Romanian astronomer, seismologist, and meteorologist, known for his work on earthquakes and atmospheric phenomena. He was born in Huși, Romania. Falb dedicated a significant portion of his research to the study of seismic activity and developed theories related to earthquake prediction, though these have not been widely accepted by the scientific community in modern times. He proposed the idea of lunar influence on earthquake occurrences, a concept that remains largely unsupported by empirical evidence. He also studied atmospheric optics and developed his own theories concerning meteorological phenomena. While his predictions regarding earthquakes did not prove reliable, his contributions to the early development of seismology and meteorology in Romania are recognized. Falb also published several books and articles on astronomy, meteorology, and seismology.
