Imprudence (horse)
Imprudence was an American Thoroughbred racehorse foaled in 1896. She was known for her exceptional speed and stamina, particularly during her three-year-old season in 1899.
Imprudence was sired by St. Florian, out of the mare Modesty. She was trained by John H. Shults and owned by the Brookdale Stock Farm.
Her most notable victory came in the 1899 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. She won impressively, defeating a strong field of fillies. In addition to her Kentucky Oaks win, Imprudence also captured other significant races during her career, solidifying her reputation as one of the leading fillies of her time.
While her racing career was relatively short, Imprudence made a significant impact on the American racing scene. Following her retirement from racing, she became a broodmare, though her success in that role was not as significant as her accomplishments on the track. Imprudence died in 1906.
