Iliatenco
Iliatenco is a municipality located in the Costa Chica region of the state of Guerrero, Mexico. It is primarily inhabited by indigenous peoples, predominantly belonging to the Tlapanec (Me'phaa) group. The economy of Iliatenco is largely based on agriculture, with subsistence farming being common. Corn, beans, and fruits are typical crops. Remittances from family members working in other parts of Mexico or the United States also contribute to the local economy.
The municipality faces challenges common to many rural indigenous communities in Mexico, including limited access to education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Poverty and marginalization are prevalent issues. Iliatenco is governed by a municipal president and council, elected by the local population. Efforts are being made to preserve and promote the Tlapanec language and culture within the community.
