Ihorombe

Ihorombe is one of the 23 regions of Madagascar. It is located in the south-central part of the country. The capital of Ihorombe is Ihosy.

Geography:

Ihorombe region is characterized by varied terrain, including plateaus, mountains, and plains. The region's climate is generally dry and semi-arid, particularly in the southern parts.

Demographics:

The population of Ihorombe is predominantly composed of the Bara people. Cattle herding is a significant part of their cultural identity and livelihood.

Economy:

Agriculture and livestock farming form the backbone of the Ihorombe economy. The region is known for its cattle production, and crops such as rice, beans, and corn are also cultivated. Challenges to economic development include limited infrastructure and drought.

Administration:

Ihorombe is divided into three districts: Ihosy, Iakora, and Ivohibe. Each district is further subdivided into communes. The region is administered by a regional governor.
