Hux Brown

Hux Brown (born Lindel Stewart Brown, June 4, 1947, in Montego Bay, Jamaica; died March 25, 2024) was a highly influential Jamaican guitarist and session musician, best known for his pioneering use of the wah-wah pedal in reggae music. He significantly shaped the sound of reggae in the 1970s and beyond, contributing to the genre's distinctive character.

Brown began his career in the late 1960s and quickly became a sought-after session player, working with many of reggae's most prominent artists. His signature wah-wah guitar style can be heard on countless classic tracks, adding a layer of funk and emotion to the music.

He played on recordings for artists such as Bob Marley & The Wailers, Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Ken Boothe, Gregory Isaacs, and countless others. His guitar work is considered integral to the development of the "flying cymbals" sound that became popular in the early 1970s.

Beyond his session work, Brown released several albums under his own name, showcasing his guitar prowess and innovative arrangements.
