Holly Hall (Elkton, Maryland)
Holly Hall is a historic home located in Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland. It is a 2 1/2-story, five-bay brick dwelling built around 1800. The house features a gable roof, Flemish bond brickwork on the facade, and a central entrance with a transom. It is representative of Federal-style architecture in the region.
Holly Hall is associated with the Hollingsworth family, prominent Quakers who were early settlers in Cecil County. The land on which the house stands was part of a larger tract owned by the Hollingsworths. While the exact builder of Holly Hall is debated, it is believed to have been built by a member of the family.
Over the years, Holly Hall has undergone some alterations and renovations, but it retains much of its original character. It is a significant example of early residential architecture in Cecil County and provides insight into the lives of the prominent families who shaped the region's history.
Holly Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
