HMAS Stuart (FFH 153)

The HMAS Stuart (FFH 153) was an Anzac-class frigate of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). She was the third ship of the RAN to bear the name, honouring Captain John Stuart, RAN, a distinguished officer who served in World War I.

Construction and Commissioning: Laid down in 1985, the ship was built by the Australian Shipbuilding Industry. She was commissioned into the RAN on 21 March 1992.

Service History: HMAS Stuart served extensively throughout her operational life, participating in numerous deployments including: regional patrols, international exercises, and contributions to various multinational operations. Specific details of these deployments would require further research, but her service would have included anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, and maritime patrol duties.

Decommissioning: HMAS Stuart was decommissioned from the RAN on 23 October 2018 after almost 27 years of service. Following decommissioning, the future of the vessel was not immediately publicly disclosed and may have been considered for sale, disposal or museum placement.

Armament and Capabilities: The ship's armament and capabilities would have included various weapon systems common to Anzac-class frigates. These would have included anti-ship missiles, anti-submarine capabilities (such as torpedoes), a close-in weapon system, and a range of other sensors and equipment for maritime operations. Specific details of the onboard weaponry and electronic warfare systems would require further research.
