Gunningen
Gunningen is a village in the municipality of Groningen, in the province of Groningen, Netherlands. It is located about 10 kilometers northeast of the city of Groningen. Historically an independent municipality, it was merged into the municipality of Ten Boer in 1969, which in turn was merged into the municipality of Groningen in 2019.
The village is situated in a rural area characterized by polders and farmland. It features a reformed church, built in the 13th century, and several historic farmhouses. The population of Gunningen is relatively small, contributing to its quiet and rural atmosphere. The area is primarily agricultural, with farming being the main economic activity.
