Gridlock (game show)
Gridlock was a British game show that aired on Challenge from 2003 to 2005. The show featured contestants answering general knowledge questions to advance spaces on a virtual grid.
Gameplay:
Two contestants faced off in each round. The game board was represented by a 5x5 grid of squares, with each square corresponding to a different category of general knowledge questions.
Contestants took turns choosing a category and answering a question. A correct answer allowed them to claim the selected square, placing their marker (represented by a colour) on it. An incorrect answer allowed their opponent to choose a category and attempt to claim a square.
The goal was to create a continuous line of five squares, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, with their own colour marker. The first contestant to achieve this created a "Gridlock" and won the round.
The show typically consisted of multiple rounds, with the winner of each round receiving points. The contestant with the most points at the end of all rounds was declared the overall winner.
